BOEING TO CLOSE WICHITA FACILITY- LEAVE KANSAS

Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has informed its employees that it will close the Wichita facility in 2013. As one of Kansas’ largest employers, this decision will adversely affect the entire Wichita area.

Both U. S. Senators- Roberts and Moran- along with Governor Brownback have expressed supreme disappointment with the decision.

Boeing cited cost cutting as the reason for the closing. They claim a highly competitive market for defense dollars and believe they need to make changes to their company structure to reduce costs.

This decision is a long term blow to the Kansas economy.
